The Lovers’ Chronicle 19 June – time – art by Cornelius Krieghoff

Dear Zazie,  Here is today’s Lovers’ Chronicle from Mac Tag.  Rhett

The Lovers’ Chronicle

Dear Muse,

more songs than we know what to do with
’’So many songs, so little time’’
ha, well played
’’Thank you my dear’’
pre-you it would have been an easy choice,
David Bowie’s ‘’Time’’ from Aladdin Sane
a very dark, very good tune, too dark
for where we are so i narrowed it down to two,
Van Halen, with Sammy, recorded one
called ‘’It’s About Time’’, as in;
it’s about damn time
we found what we were lookin’ for,
or we could go with ‘’Time’’ by Tom Waits;
‘’And it’s time, time, time that you love’’
’’More Waits please’’
thought we might
because it is time

time sweepin’ back and forth seemin’ly faster than before, glad you are along for the ride however long that is; these words will continue whether good, bad or ugly (apologies, could not resist); best way i know to measure what it took to get from there to here; maybe some will say, good ride cowboy

time sweepin’ back and forth

lyin’ with, hoped
you would emerge
and you did

and everything fell into place
the moonlight through the window,
the sound of your breathin’,
the smell of your perfume,
the feel of your skin…

you sweeepin’ across
my life into your place
beside me

Pale Love, Pale Rider

time sweepin’ back and forth
across the subconscious

lyin’ without, hopin’
you will emerge

and everything will fall into place
the moonlight through the window,
the sound of your breathin’,
the smell of your perfume,
the feel of your skin…

you sweepin’ across
my mind

time sweepin’ back and forth
no matter the time zone,
now one removed
from the High Plains,
but constants remain

without, of course,
and you here, to listen
to lead the verse forward

open to this big change
for that very reason
knowin’ the words
will still come
when summoned

how to know
turns out this way

time sweepin’ back and forth

passin’ through
the names
and faces
the missed chances
the sacrifice
that had to be made
the lyin’ without

worth all the grief
to be standin’ here
worth doin’
all over again
if that is the price

to not be another

time sweepin’ back and forth
across the subconscious

lyin’ without
knowin’ that any moment

you will emerge,
slip into your place beside me

and everything will fall into place
the moonlight through the window,
the sound of your breathin’,
the smell of your perfume,
the feel of your skin…

lyin’ without
you sweepin’ across
my mind

knowin’ that soon
the shadows will emerge

for MD

What I need: To
find my way back
to the place where
I gave a damn

I did not think
it could happen
Then doubt kicked in
the door. But no
I was right; it
cannot get worse

Whoa now! Feelin’s start
creepin’ up on me
Slammed the door quick like
Put a stop to that

Then she wanted a hug,
she was not the huggin’ kind,
and then she left

Well……….. Hell!!!

Ever once in
awhile, even
a fool can get
lucky. I did
And I thank you
And I will not
forget. Ever

So how difficult
was today? Very

Today is the birthday of Cornelius Krieghoff (Cornelius David Krieghoff; Amsterdam; June 19, 1815 – April 8, 1872 Chicago); painter of the 19th century.  Krieghoff is most famous for his paintings of Canadian landscapes and Canadian life outdoors, particularly his winter scenes, some of which he painted in a number of variants (e.g. Running the Toll).

photographed by M.O. Hammond

Krieghoff traveled to Paris in 1844, where he copied masterpieces at the Louvre under the direction of Michel Martin Drolling (1789–1851).

Together with his wife Émilie Gauthier, he moved to Montreal around 1846; he participated in the Montreal Society of Artists in 1847. While in Montreal, he befriended the Mohawks living on the Kahnawake Indian Reservation and made many sketches of them from which he later produced oil paintings.
